Drinking Chocolates by Juliette & Chocolat

Juliette & Chocolat and hot chocolate: that's quite the story! Juliette Brun, the creator of Juliette & Chocolat, tells it:

"When I opened Juliette & Chocolat, one of my inspirations was the urge to put a truly great hot chocolate on the market. I don't drink coffee, so as a student, when I'd go study in a café, I'd order a hot chocolate, and I was always disappointed. It wasn't real chocolate, just water with a bit of cocoa. So for Juliette & Chocolat, I worked on my own version: a drinking chocolate so rich and thick it'd take you straight back to childhood the moment you taste it!"

Juliette launched her hot chocolate, and her guests adopted it instantly. "More than half the recipe is actual chocolate! It's so thick a spoon stands straight up in it! My first customers couldn't believe it, then they were won over, and they kept coming back for more of my hot chocolate."

Today, years later, Juliette's famous hot chocolate remains a must-have. Served in our restaurants in four versions: milk chocolate, bittersweet dark chocolate, extra-bittersweet dark chocolate, and white chocolate.

  • Milk Hot Chocolate Mix  Our house classic, 33% cocoa milk chocolate. 250 g box (4 to 8 cups depending on how rich you like it).
  • Dark Hot Chocolate Mix  For lovers of more intense chocolate, at 55% cocoa. 250 g box.
  • Hot Chocolate Bombs Chocolate spheres that melt in a bowl of hot milk, with a surprise inside. Flavors: praline, raspberry.
  • Hot Chocolate POPs Chocolate on a stick, swirl it into a bowl of hot milk to melt it. Playful for kids and grown-ups alike.

All our recipes are prepared in our Chocolate Atelier in Greenfield Park, on Montréal's South Shore, with lots of really good chocolate. Thick, silky, or delicately velvety: a cup of happiness for everyone.

Frequently asked questions

Are your drinking chocolates made with real chocolate? Yes: we use Belgian couverture chocolate, not sweetened powders. That's what gives it the thick texture and deep flavor you don't get from industrial hot chocolates.

What type of chocolate do you use? Depending on the recipe: white chocolate, 33% cocoa milk chocolate, 55% bittersweet dark chocolate, and extra-bittersweet dark chocolate up to 70% cocoa, for a deep, lingering taste.

Do your hot chocolate mixes contain milk? Yes, all our mixes contain milk. For a fully dark, dairy-free version, we recommend our dark chocolate pistoles and the hot chocolate recipe in Juliette's recipe book.

How many cups per box? A 250 g box of hot chocolate mix makes 4 to 8 cups, depending on how rich you like it.

Can your chocolate be enjoyed cold? Yes! Prepare it as usual by heating it up, then let it cool in the fridge before serving over ice. If needed, thin it with a little milk for a more pourable consistency.
